How to Post a Job on Facebook

How to Post a Job on Facebook Tutorial

Sheldon Payne here from Newfound Marketing with another useful weekly tip – posting a job on your Facebook page. If you want to learn how to post your jobs, a feature that will bridge the gap between jobs and prospective applicants, I am going to quickly guide you through the process.

First, go to your home page, or to your Facebook page and look at the left side of the page. At the bottom of the list of options, you’ll see a tab that says “Jobs.” After clicking on it, you will be given the option to create your job. You can customize it by adding a little introduction in the space provided for that purpose – a preview is available in the box on the right side. You can also upload a photo, if you have a specific one in mind for the particular job. This could be great for bigger organizations. Alternatively, you can use the cover photo.

For the purpose of this example, I am going to use the cover photo. You would then place the title of your job in the designated field. What is really great about this feature is that as you begin to type your job title, Facebook will actually provide you with similar job titles. So I am just going to put in a job title for a digital marketing specialist. You can specify the location as well as the salary – per hour, day, week, month, or year, depending on your preferences. You can also leave that field blank. After you have done that, you can select the actual type of job that you are hiring for – full time, part time, internship or contractual position. The last step is adding a job description. You have up to 5,000 characters to use for your job description.

So, just to give you a practical example, I will type “Now hiring, digital marketing specialist, to join our growing team.” You can actually see how your job ad is going to appear to users in the right side of the window and the preview also gives you an opportunity to quickly review the information. When you are done with the review, you can hit the “Publish” button. Your job is now created. Once approved, it will appear on your Facebook page within 24 hours and will be active for about 30 days. You can check your Newfound Marketing messages for job applications, and visit the jobs tab to manage the jobs (by clicking on the “see jobs” tab). It is as simple as that and you actually have a new position coming up for the digital marketing specialist with Newfound Marketing ( which is something we’re not currently hiring for by the way).

Another great thing about this feature is that anyone who wants to apply (whether they find the job when they visit your page or click on a Facebook ad for the job) can click on the “Apply Now” tab and everything will be populated for them from their public Facebook profile. Given this, if you currently don’t have your job posted on Facebook, an emerging trend would be for Facebook to become a little more aggressive in pushing people to complete their profiles. This could serve two purposes – on the one hand helping employers find new employees, and on the other – helping businesses to better target their advertising to people who work in certain jobs.

Going back to the application – you can review the information and make edits if necessary. Once you are satisfied with the application, you can press the “Send” tab, and the application will actually go to the Facebook page for someone to review. That sums up the Newfound Marketing tip for week. If you have a new job that you’re looking to hire for, in the coming weeks, you can give this feature a try and receive all the applications coming directly to your Facebook page.
